1. Highlights Of Buhari’s Speech At The Armed Forces Remembrance Day
President Muhammadu Buhari has informed Nigerians to expect a significant improvement in security in the country this year.
Speaking at the Armed Forces Remembrance Day on Thursday in Abuja, the Nigerian leader said the fight against insecurity will improve and Nigeria will be better for it.
He also advised the nation’s service chiefs to ensure synergy and cooperation in the fight against insecurity,and ensure a more sustained focus on intelligence gathering and interpretation.
2. Only God Can Give Nigeria Victory Over Insecurity – Adesina
Presidential Spokesman, Femi Adesina, says it is only God Almighty that can give Nigeria victory over the increase in insecurity.
In an article on Friday titled, ‘The Decent for the Indecent, the Just for the Unjust’, Adesina said some Nigerians have failed to realize that even the Nigerian military cannot solve all the security problems in the country.
He said rather than understand the fact that only God can give victory, some Nigerians are always complaining and criticising the Muhammadu Buhari-administration
3. COVID-19: Govt Suspends Schools’ Resumption, Reviews Curfew To 10pm
Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State on Friday announced that the curfew earlier imposed in the state will now begin from 10 pm to 5 am to check rising cases of COVID-19.
Naija News reports that Obaseki rolled out several measures to halt the spread of the virus in the state during a press conference in Government House, Benin City.

5. Insecurity: Buhari Has Performed Better Than Jonathan – Presidency Boasts
The presidency has submitted that the security situation in Nigeria has improved since the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari assumed power in 2015.
This was contained in a statement by the special adviser on media and publicity to the president, Mr. Femi Adesina where he highlighted major achievements of the military under the current administration.
6. ‘We Will Crucify Kukah And No One Will Stop Us’ – Muslim Cleric Threatens
The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, Mathew Kukah, has been warned by a Sokoto-based Islamic cleric, Abubakar Malami, to desist from challenging President Muhammadu Buhari-led government.
This is coming a few days after the Muslim Solidarity Forum has asked the Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Bishop Mathew Hassan Kukah to apologise to the entire Muslim Ummah over his recent comments against Islam or leave Sokoto.
Malami in a sermon threatened the Bishop Kukah would be crucified and there will be no one to stop them if he does not desist from challenging the government.
7. President Buhari Makes Fresh Appointments, Renews Tenure Of 7 Others (Full List)
The President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of two persons as Managing Directors of River Basin Development Authorities.
The President also granted approval for the renewal of the tenures of seven Managing Directors of River Basin Development Authorities across the tenures.
Those whose tenures were renewed will be serving their final term in office according to a statement on Thursday evening by the Director, Press and Public Relations in the Ministry of Water Resources, Mrs Kenechukwu Offie.
8. COVID-19: Sanwo-Olu Takes Decision On Reopening Lagos Schools Next Week
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has approved the reopening of all public and private schools in the state for the second term 2020 /2021 academic session with effect from Monday 18th January 2021.
Following the directive, the Lagos government urged all school managers to enforce strict compliance with all subsisting protocols to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the state.
This was made known in a statement on Friday by the Director-General, Office of the Education Quality Assurance, OEQA, of the state Ministry of Education, Mrs Abiola Seriki-Ayeni.
9. APC Breaks Silence On Tinubu Emerging As Its 2023 Presidential Candidate
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said its National Leader, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has to form an alliance with party stakeholders in other zones in other to emerge as its presidential candidate in 2023.
This was made known by the party’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Yekini Nabena to Daily Post on Thursday.
According to the APC chieftain, no matter the zone one comes from he/she needs to work with other region to emerge as the party candidate.
10. Your Govt Has Failed Nigerians – PDP Tells Buhari
The opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has knocked President Muhammadu Buhari for telling Nigerians to judge his administration fairly.
In a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, in Abuja on Thursday, the PDP asked Buhari to tell Nigerians some of his achievements since he became the President.
The opposition party also condemned the President for allegedly reversing the country’s fortune in the five years it has been in office.
According to the PDP, Buhari’s illusory self-assessment further validates its position that “he has since abandoned governance for the luxury and pleasures of Aso Presidential villa”.
