Nemesis As Bandits Kill One Another Over Ransom Sharing Formula In Kaduna

Dispute over the ratio to be adopted in sharing ransom payments from kidnappings has led two gangs of armed bandits in Giwa local council of Kaduna State to kill nine of their members during a gun duel.

Naija News got to know of this classic case of nemesis from a statement issued yesterday by the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs in Kaduna State, Mr. Samuel Aruwan.

The commissioner said that reliable sources revealed that the fatal face-off between the bandit groups stemmed from a disagreement over sharing of accumulated ransoms, during which one of the groups felt cheated.

Lawmaker Regrets Joining Politics As Banditry Forces 50,000 Nigerians To Niger Republic

No fewer than 50,000 residents of 17 communities in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State have taken refuge in Niger Republic over incessant attacks by bandits.

This was disclosed by the member representing Sabon Birni North constituency at the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Aminu Almustapha Boza, who regretted joining politics over the development.

He said the villagers are currently taking refuge at Tudun Sunnah village, Gidan Runji Local Government in Maradi State of Niger Republic.

Yoruba Nation agitator Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho, won’t return to Nigeria until the end of the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.

Naija News reports that this was disclosed by one of his lawyer Olusegun Falola.

He said the agitator is staying away from the hostile environment created by Buhari, adding that his stay in Benin Republic is a blessing in disguise.

Speaking on a radio interview monitored by The Nation, Falola claimed that Sunday Igboho would have been left for the worse if the Buhari government had succeeded in capturing him like the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

The Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN) has denied directing the Department of State Services, DSS, to attack the residence of Sunday Igboho.

Naija News recall that the DSS had on July 1st attacked Sunday Igboho’s residence in Soka Ibadan, killing two people and arresting many others.

Igboho had gone into hiding after escaping the attack by the Nigerian secret police.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has advised the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to work towards producing a nationally accepted presidential candidate in 2023.

A former military governor of Oyo State, Brigadier General Olatunji Idowu Olurin (rtd) is dead.

It was gathered that the former administrator died on Saturday morning at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital(LUTH) after a brief illness.

Aged 76, he is survived by is wife and children.

The People’s Democratic Party, PDP, chieftain was a one-time sole administrator of Ekiti State after the impeachment of Governor Ayodele Fayose and his depth in 2006.

Governors Deny Receiving ₦243bn From Paris Club Fund

The 36 state governors in Nigeria have jointly denied receiving the sum of ₦243.8 billion Paris Club refund in the month of August.

The Governors in their refutal through the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) stated that the allegation of receiving such funds was done by a faceless individual.

The statement released in Abuja on Friday through the NGF head of media and public affairs, Abdulrazaque Bello-Barkindo warned those behind the rumours not to set Nigeria on fire.
