The PUNCH: The refusal of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), to sign the Electoral Act amendment bill that would have permitted statutory delegates to vote has altered the voting strength of some states.


The Guardian: Barring last minute changes, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will today screen its presidential aspirants for the 2023 general elections after earlier postponements. This was announced, yesterday, by the National Organising Secretary of the party, Suleiman Argungu, in Abuja. He said the party will screen 28 presidential aspirants, though 25 submitted the nomination forms, today and tomorrow at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel Abuja, four days to its convention where the party’s flag bearer would emerge.


The Nation: Five days to its presidential primary, the All Progressives Congress (APC) is at a critical curve. President Muhammadu Buhari will today meet with the presidential aspirants. Governors, National Assembly leaders and party’s National Working Committee (NWC) members will also meet with the President.


Daily Trust: The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) could not hold its primaries in the South-East states on Monday due to the sit-at-home being enforced by the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).


Daily SUN: The All Progressives Congress (APC) appears to be walking a tight rope to beat the June 3 deadline set by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for political parties to conclude primaries.
