Niger: Bandits Have Killed Abducted Catholic Priest — Victim’s Colleague

A priest of the Catholic Diocese of Minna, Niger State, Rev. Fr. John Gbakaan, has been reportedly kill by suspected gunmen.

A report disclosed that Gbakaan was killed on Friday, some days after he was abducted by the gunmen.

A Catholic priest identified as Rev. Fr. Ugochukwu Ugwoke, revealed the development on his Twitter account on Saturday.

“Rev. Fr. John Gbakaan, a priest of the Catholic Diocese of Minna, Nigeria, was last night abducted and killed by some gunmen. In your charity, kindly join in praying for the repose of his soul.”

Meanwhile, the Order of The Knights of Saint Mulumba Nigeria (KSM) has condemned the Presidency over its position on the threat issued to the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah, by a Muslim group.

In a statement on Saturday by the Supreme Knight in Nigeria, Sir Diamond Ovueraye, the statement issued by the Presidential Spokesman, Garba Shehu, was to rebuke Bishop Kukah instead of the Islamic group.
