President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday in Borno State, declared that Nigerians have shown him so much love and he remains grateful to them.
The President made the declaration while speaking at the palace of the Shehu of Borno during his official visit to Maiduguri, Borno State.
Buhari was quoted by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu to have said during the visit that the love shown to him by Nigerians will spur him to continue to serve them in his best capacity.
The President promised to make the welfare of Nigerians a top priority including doing all that is necessary to provide adequate security for the citizens and residents of the country.
Explaining that he started his administrative career as a military governor in Borno State, President Buhari noted that it is always a pleasure for him to return to the state.
“My commitment to serve Nigerians is a payback for the love shown to me. I started my political adventure in Maiduguri and I always look forward to coming here,” he stated.
In his remarks, the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Ibn Garbai El-Kanemi thanked the President for his visit and appreciated his commitment to the security situation in Borno State as well as the welfare of the internally displaced persons.
The President also commended the Governor of Borno State, Babagana Zulum for his forthrightness, resilience and drive in bringing development to the state, despite security challenges.
He noted that very few leaders will take the risks Governor Zulum had taken over the years to protect his people and promote peace and development, especially in putting his life on the line by spending nights with vulnerable people.
The Governor thanked the President for visiting Borno State to appraise the security situation, and commission some of the completed projects in the last few years.
