The minister of state for labour, Festus Keyamo disclosed in a tweet on Saturday, March 20, that President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the release of the funds for the payment of stipends to the beneficiaries of the programme.

The Nigerian Ministry of Labour and Employment says President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the release of funds to start paying 774,000 Nigerians who have registered for the SPW program.

The Minister of State, Labour & Employment, Festus Keyamo made the announcement on his Twitter account.

He said those who registered for the program would soon start earning money in their bank accounts.

And according to him, Bank Verification Number (BVN), will be used to prevent recipients from earning twice especially those who have registered under two names.

But the minister did not say when the government would start paying the bill.

In January, the Buhari administration launched a program to support 750,000 poor youths amid rising youth unemployment.
