The vice president of Nigeria, Yemi Osinbajo, on Saturday will expectedly state whether or not he will contest in next year’s presidential election.

According to a top source in the presidency quoted by Daily Post, the vice president feels it’s the right time to address the 2023 issue with regard to his ambition, considering the fact that the election is close.

However,  it is not certain if the Osinbajo will declare interest to run or step aside due to his loyalty to a former Lagos Governor, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who is believed to be his political godfather.

Tinubu has since declared his interest for the number one seat and has now commenced consultations.

Recall that spokesman of the Vice PresidentLaolu Akande, had said his principal has not decided on contesting the presidency in 2023.

Akande said, “The VP continues focusing all his attention on the work of this administration and on supporting Mr President in every possible way. Please continue to ignore the speculations.”

The Vice President has been called on by groups in the country to run for the presidency in the 2023 general elections.
