Unknown Gunmen Burn Down Police Station In Delta, Kill Three

Unknown gunmen have attacked the Nsukwa Divisional Police Station in Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State.

It was gathered that the attack by the gunmen also left three police officers feared dead.

According to The Punch, the hoodlums attacked the Police Station around 2.am Sunday morning.

It was learnt that the building and vehicles were razed while the hoodlums carted away their ammunition.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Bright Edafe, failed to pick calls put across to his cell phone for confirmation of the incident as of the time of filing this report. However, police sources in the Ogwash-Uku, a neighbouring community confirmed the attack.

Meanwhile, the Imo State Police Command have disclosed that five individuals suspected to be members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) were arrested over the killing of police sergeant, Joseph Nwaka.

This was made known in a statement on Saturday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Orlando Ikeokwu.

According to the police, the suspects were arrested in Isu Local Government Area (LGA) of the state, some on Thursday, May 13, and the others on Friday May 14, by the Anti-Kidnapping unit and other tactical teams of the command.

Ikeokwu also said that an AK 47 rifle with breech no 56-258115 and 15 Rounds of live ammunition were recovered from the suspects.

Other items recovered were four locally fabricated weapons, six live cartridges and a large quantity of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp.
