Kelechi Iheanacho Goal Secures FA Cup Final Spot For Leicester

Nigerian striker, Kelechi Iheanacho on Sunday ensured that his club, Leicester City will be playing in the FA cup final for the first time in 52 years.

The in-form Iheanacho scored a brilliant goal in his club’s semi-final game against Southampton on Sunday to ensure the foxes go into the FA Cup finals.

The forward scored the only and winning goal of the semi-final game in the 55th minute of the encounter, Naija News reports.

The game had been pretty quiet before Jamie Vardy found Iheanacho in the box after making a good run down the left.

The striker’s effort was initially blocked but he put the rebound at the back of the net.

With Sunday’s win, Leicester will now face Chelsea who beat Machester City 1-0 on Saturday in this season’s FA cup final scheduled to be played at the Wembley Stadium May 15.

Meanwhile, Daniel Farke’s Norwich City has been sent back up to the English Premier League on Saturday without even kicking a ball.

Naija News reports that draws for Swansea and Brentford sent the Championship leaders back into the top-flight.

Recall that Norwich alongside Watford and Bournemouth were relegated from the EPL on the 2019/2020 season.

The Canaries’ have dominated the second tier with 27 wins from their 41 games so far, getting promoted after third-placed Swansea were held to a 2-2 draw by bottom of the table Wycombe, while fourth-placed Brentford drew 0-0 with Millwall.

Norwich are 14 points clear of Swansea, who have four games left, and 16 ahead of Brentford, who have five matches left.

They are also eight points clear of second-placed Watford, who lost 1-0 at local rivals Luton on Saturday.
