Kaduna Power Distribution Company Joins Strike, Cut Off Power To The State

The Kaduna State Electricity Distribution Company has announced a power outage due to the union strike.

“In accordance with the orders of the NLC, TCN has cut off all 33KV power lines across Kaduna State,” the company said in a statement.

The statement said the power outage was the result of an industrial strike in the state

This comes ahead of the start of a strike by the union that will begin on Sunday night to pressure the state governor to reverse his decision to lay off workers.

“Any suspicious movement around distribution sub-stations (transformers) should be reported to the relevant security agency.“

“We have the collective responsibility to protect these critical national assets in our neighbourhood.“

“We once again appeal to both parties in the dispute to strive at an amicable resolution for normalcy to return,“ the statement declared.

El-Rufa’i’s government issued a statement on Saturday saying it had not banned the strike, but union law made it clear that it would not allow workers to go on strike.

The governor also defended his dismissal, saying his government would not spend all its money on salaries.
