Chairman of Eket Local Government Area, Hon. Akaniyene Tommey Ikott has congratulated Governor Udom Emmanuel for creating opportunities for the teeming youths of the State to compete in the increasing influx of industries to the State.
He made the statement in a chat with news men earlier today as the first batch of the oil and gas trainees are passing out of their camp.
The Council Boss said, “I will like to congratulate His Excellency, Governor Udom Emmanuel for creating opportunities for our teaming youths to compete in the increasing influx of industries to the State through the Ibom 3000 programme. We live in a time as influenced by a global pandemic, wherein thousands of people have lost their jobs. The opportunities created through the Ibom 3000 initiative will equip thousands of our youths to be self reliant and of high economic value to the society thereby reducing the unemployment quota of the State.
“Governor Udom is a global leader who is aligned with the economic realties of the world by creating more jobs through pragmatic skills aquisition to the Akwa Ibom young age.
“The Ibom 3000 project has empowered the youths to be independent and of high economic value to themselves and the society,” He added.
He urged the graduating trainees of the project to be diligent in their chosen area of specialization, explore creative business opportunities, expand their world view as well as deploy best professional practices inorder to stay relevant in the market.
The Council helmsman called on all Akwa Ibom youths to seize the advantage this initiative would create, and shun cultism, other social vices and political merchandising to accepting a new order of hard work, dedication and self development as it is completely a Pan-Akwa Ibom Initiative.
Recall that months ago, the Akwa Ibom State Government through the Ministry of Trade and Investment launched the Ibom 3000 Project to train Akwa Ibom youths in specific areas of trade like Oil and Gas, ICT, Agriculture, SMEs and operation of Heavy Duty equipment.
