Ondo: Two Killed As Gunmen Attack Community

At least five persons were reportedly killed in Anambra State when some unknown gunmen attacked a popular drinking joint on Friday night.

The assailants according to reports, stormed a restaurant situated at Uto Ndu in Obiofia Village, under Nnewi South Local Government Area of the state at about 8:00 pm and started shooting sporadically.

The owner of the restaurant identified simply as Ụtọ Ndụ (a female) was also killed in the attack, Naija News learnt.

Sympathisers, friends and some relatives of the victims have taken to social media to mourn their beloved family members.

Remains of the victims have been reportedly transported to a mortuary while security operatives launch a hunt on the perpetrators.

Naija News recalls that the latest attack is coming a week after a group of unknown gunmen attacked Ayamelum Divisional Police Station at Anaku in Anambra State.

Some police operatives on duty are said to have repelled the attackers. However, the gunmen set ablaze some operational vehicles parked inside the station.

Sources disclosed that over three vehicles were burnt down, but the station was not affected.

Confirming the incident, the state police public relations officer, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, said, “The attack was successfully repelled by our officers. We didn’t record any casualties.

“Our arms are intact and our men are in high spirit. Operations are still ongoing in the area to arrest the hoodlums.”
