Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi, has lost his Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Wendy Uchechi Okah, to the cold hands of death.
Naija News reports that Okah’s death was disclosed in a Facebook post by the Special Assistant to Governor David Nweze Umahi on Inter-party and Labour Matters, Jennifer Adibe-Nwafor.
This online newspaper gathered that the deceased politician reportedly died on Friday.
“So saddened.. one of the women I love…Engr Uchechi Wendy Okah, Hon. Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development to Ebonyi State Governor before her death this morning….she was a hard-working woman and a heroine…we will surely miss you,” Adibe-Nwafor said.
Recall that in June 2020 Some protesters had burnt down the country home of Celestine Okah, the husband of the deceased.
The incident occurred at Elugwu Ettam community in the Okpuitumo Ikwo Local Government Area of the state.
Okah was accused of being involved in some criminal activities in the community, which he denied.
In other news, Muslims in Ebonyi through the state Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has declared support for Governor David Umahi’s 2023 presidential ambition.
The group declared its support when its Chairman, Abbas Egwu, led a delegation on an Eid Al-Fitr homage to Umahi.
Ebonyi Muslims also promised to support the governor’s efforts to tackle insecurity in Ebonyi.
“We pass a vote of confidence in the governor and urge him to make himself available for national service in 2023.
“People wonder why Muslims are fond of the governor, and the reason is that he has treated us well, making us feel accepted in the state,” he said.
Egwu stated that Muslims in the state had resolved to provide security information or reports to the governor and relevant security agencies.
