Umahi: Bauchi Gov Speaks On Dumping PDP For APC

The Principal Private Secretary to Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, Professor Mohammed Kirfi, has tendered his resignation letter.

Naija News understands that Professor Kirfi resigned his appointment on Friday, 22 January, 2021.

The former Principal Private Secretary was appointed by Governor Mohammed on Wednesday, February 19th, 2020.

The reasons for his resignation are yet to be made public and the Bauchi State Government is yet to make a statement on the development several hours after.

When contacted by The Punch through a text message, he said: “I have no comments to make, please.”

Speaking on the latest resignation, the Publicity Secretary of the PDP in the state, Alhaji Yayanuwa Zainabari, said people who resigned are those unable to discharge the responsibilities assigned to them.

“Anyone that feels that he is incapable of discharging the duties of his office is free to resign as the governor is determined to deliver good governance,” he said.

Before his appointment, Kirfi was an Associate Professor, Public Management, with the Federal University, Kashere, Gombe State.

Since the commencement of the Peoples Democratic Party-led administration in the state in May 2019, Kirfi is the fifth top appointee of the government to have resigned.

The Four members of the State Executive Council who had resigned included the former Chief of Staff to the governor, Abubakar Kari, former Commissioner of Finance, Nura Soro, the Special Adviser to the governor on Political Matters, Shitu Zaki, and the former Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Mohammed Sadiq.
