The lawmaker representing Bauchi north senatorial district, Adamu Bulkachuwa, has compared the activities of bandits to terrorists in the country.
Bulkachuwa on Sunday insisted that there is no difference between terrorists and bandits, adding that both groups operate the same way.
The lawmaker stated this while speaking on Channels Sunday Politics.
“We gave them the name bandit probably to just soft pedal because terrorism in the international arena is regarded as the most heinous crime that any group of people can engage in.
“They are terrorists in reality. What else are they? Anybody that does not allow people rest, what is he?”
This is coming after the Senate and members of the House of Representatives charged President Muhammadu Buhari to proscribe bandits as terrorists.
Bulkachuwa while speaking on the programme joined his voice with other Nigerians who have called for bandits and their sponsors to be tagged as terrorists.
He added, “It is just giving them their right name.
“They should be declared terrorists. After all, who is a terrorist and who is a bandit?”
Bulkachuwa further stated that bandits and kidnappers should be tagged as terrorists, nothing that will help tackle security issues in the country.
The lawmaker said, “The bandits, the kidnappers, they are all terrorists, they should be declared same so that whichever country they go to, they would be regarded as such.”
