Why Imo State Will Always Get FG’s Attention – Uzodinma Boasts

The Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma has described President Muhammadu Buhari and Senate President Ahmad Lawan as friends of Imo State.

To this end, he boasted that the state will always receive quick attention from the federal government when it makes any request.

Uzodinma made the submission on Friday when he hosted Senate President Lawan who was in Imo to commision some projects.

The Governor observed that the state has enjoyed the visits of the President, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, the Senate President and many other top government officials within just a year in office.

Speaking at the commissioning of some road projects on Friday, Uzodinma said: “Today, the Senate President, Distinguished Senator Ahmed Lawan and his Colleagues are physically present to witness the harvest of these roads which were done within our one year in office.

“A few weeks ago, our great Leader President Muhammadu Buhari flagged off the commissioning of the roads. Last Tuesday, the Vice President also honoured us with his presence to commission Dick Tiger road and Dick Tiger Street.

“The visit of the Senate President as the head of the legislature is significant because it shows the synergy that exists in the APC government between the executive and the legislature.

“For us in Imo State, we are lucky to have these heavyweights as our friends, meaning that our requests from the centre shall be treated expeditiously.

“Beyond that, however, the shared prosperity agenda of our administration encourages collaboration with sister governments and other arms of government to ensure the rapid development of our state.”

Commenting on the recent attacks on security formations in Imo State, the Governor noted that his administration will not be distracted.

“Untoward actions in the last few days have tended to slow down the activities of our government. But nothing can actually stop us from getting to our destination”.

“Our destination is to make Imo a better place for all residents while providing basic amenities and services as well as deepening democracy generally. We are more than ever resolved to implement faithfully our programme of rehabilitation, reconstruction and recovery,” he declared.

Meanwhile, former Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, has been accused by the state government of being the mastermind of attacks on correctional facility in Owerri, the Imo State capital.

The Commissioner for Information in the state, Declan Emelumba, in a statement claimed that the lawmaker representing Imo West Senatorial District engaged thugs whom he had granted amnesty to unleash violence on the state.

Emelumba said the aim was to force the Nigerian government to declare a state of emergency in Imo.

He further stated that the state government is aware of how a special adviser to Okorocha procured the thugs that invaded Owerri on Monday.
