1. Court Stops AGF Malami, DSS From Arresting Sunday Igboho
Justice Ladiean Akintola of Oyo High Court has restrained the Department of State Security (DSS) and the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami from arresting Yoruba activist, Sunday Igboho.
Naija News reports that Justice Akintola also granted the ex-parte motion restraining the DSS and AGF from intimidating, harassing, and blocking bank accounts belonging to Igboho.
The order was granted by the judge following an ex-parte motion moved by his lawyer Chief Yomi Aliu (SAN) at the court on Wednesday.
2. PDP Crisis: Secondus Speaks Out, ‘Reveals’ The Person Trying To Hijack The Party From Him
The embattled National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus has revealed that a strong chieftain of the party is trying to hijack the PDP from him.
Secondus who spoke on Wednesday alleged further that the person whom he refused to name, is working on denting his image.
The PDP chairman revealed that the person is pushing for the party to have an interim arrangement in the form of a caretaker committee so he could take over the party structures.
The alarm raised by Secondus was contained in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Ike Abonyi, titled, ‘Who is after Secondus and why is somebody in love of caretaker?
3. Court Grants Sunday Igboho’s Aides Bail After 32 Days In DSS Custody
A Federal High Court, Abuja has granted bail to 12 aides of Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Igboho, after spending 32 days in the detention of the Department of State Services.
Justice Obiora Egwuatu admitted their bail in a bail application, filed on their behalf by lawyer Pelumi Olajengbesi.
The judge rejected the plea by DSS lawyer, Idowu Awo, that some of the detainees will flee the country as their leader, Sunday Igboho, did if granted bail.
The presiding judge further stated that the aides to the Yoruba Nation agitator are entitled to bail by the provisions of the Nigerian law having been held in custody beyond the period stipulated by law.
4. More Boko Haram/ISWAP Terrorists Surrender To Nigerian Army
The Nigerian Army has confirmed that more Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists and their families have surrendered to the soldiers.
The terrorists and their families who surrendered to the Army also laid down their weapons. They included 19 male fighters, 19 adult females, and 49 children.
Confirming the development, the Army spokesman, Brigadier-General Onyema Nwachukwu in a statement on Wednesday said the heavy bombardments of the Sambisa Forest area by troops forced the terrorists out of hiding before they eventually surrendered.
They surrendered on Monday, 2nd August 2021, and they are currently undergoing security profiling, the statement noted.
5. Abba Kyari Deletes Post On ‘Assisting Hushpuppi Get N300,000 Clothes’
The embattled deputy commissioner of police, Abba Kyari, has deleted a post on his Facebook account, where he claimed to assist confessed Internet fraudster, Ramon Abba, popularly known as Hushpuppi to get native clothes and caps worth N300,000.
Naija News had earlier reported that the suspended police officer removed the aspect where he admitted to assisting Hushpuppi to get clothes.
He further stated in the edited post that Nobody demanded or collected any money from Hushpuppi.
Kyari called for Hushpuppi to be interview publicly on the case.
6. PDP Crisis: I Know Nothing About Plans To Remove Secondus From Office – Atiku
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has denied being behind the plot to remove Prince Uche Secondus from office as the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Atiku, a chieftain of the PDP made the denial amidst speculations from some quarters that he was behind the travails of Secondus so as to take over party structures.
He however rubbished such speculations, describing them as mere parlour talk that should be ignored.
The former Vice President declared in a statement through his media aide, Paul Ibe that rather than seek for the downfall of Secondus, he is solidly interested in the peace and stability of the PDP.
7. Sanwo-Olu Reveals Health Condition Of Tinubu After Visiting Him In London
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has disclosed that the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is in a perfect state of health.
The Governor spoke on Wednesday in Lagos on the sidelines of the commissioning of 102 compactor trucks and 100 double dino bins acquired by the Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA).
According to the Governor, Tinubu is well and healthy contrary to some reports about his ill health.
Speaking further through his Chief Press Secretary, Gboyega Akosile, Sanwo-Olu revealed details of what he discussed with Tinubu in London.
He explained that they “discussed happenings in APC, national issues and other matters”.
8. PDP BOT Member Defects To APC
A member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees, Senator Joy Emordi has dumped the party for the All Progressives Congress.
The Anambra politician was officially received into the APC in Abuja on Wednesday, 4th August by the Chairman APC Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee and Yobe state Governor, Mai Mala Buni.
Explaining why she dumped the PDP for APC, Senator Emordi noted that the ruling party has become more attractive by showing commitment to the people of the southeast and she believes the APC is committed to Nigeria.
9. ‘Return To Negotiating Table’ – FG Appeals To Striking Resident Doctors
The Federal Government has begged the striking resident doctors to return to the negotiating table to discuss their demands.
The Minister of State for Health, Olurunnimbe Mamora, begged the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) on behalf of President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday in Abuja.
The doctors had embarked on an indefinite strike which started on August 2 to press home the implementation of the memorandum of understanding they entered into with the federal government in March 2021.
Mamora said discussing with the association and negotiating on ways to address the issues raised by the association would give opportunity for industrial peace and enable citizens to access healthcare.
10. Hushpuppi: Zulum’s Spokesman Speaks On Governor, Shettima Visits To Abba Kyari
The spokesman to the Governor of Borno State, Babagana Zulum, Isa Gusau, has spoken on the video making round about his principal alleged visit to the embattled Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari.
Naija News had earlier reported that the Federal Bureau of Investigation indicted the Nigerian super cop in a fraudulent trial involving confess internet fraudster, Ramon Abbas, popularly known as Hushpuppi.
Amid the probe of the deputy commissioner of police, videos of the embattled officer with the Governor of Borno State and Senator Kashim Shettima was spotted online.
Kyari in the video was seen shaking hands with Zulum as Shettima watched from a distance.
Social media users had concluded that the Borno State Governor and Lawmaker visited Kyari to show solidarity with him over his travail.
Gusau, however in a statement on Wednesday set the records straight on the video.
He said Kyari met both men when he visited Shettima’s Abuja residence in June.
Gusau condemned the embattled police officer for not releasing a statement on the trending video despite promising to do the needful.
