YOUTH COUNCIL OF NIGERIA ESTABLISHES EUROPEAN REGIONAL STRUCTURE, APPOINTS COLLINS IDAHOSA AS GOVERNOR

The umbrella body for Nigerian Youth and Youth Organisations, at home and in the diaspora, National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), has decided formalise it diaspora outreaches by establishing the European Regional structure as the first of its kind since the inception of the body on August 1964.

The Youth Council is the largest platform of Young Black People in the world, housing over one hundred and twenty million (120,000,000) Youths, with focus on youth-inclusive in policy formation and implementation and overall Development of the Nigerian Youth.

The Council has structures, presence at all tiers of Government in Nigeria, from Federal, through State, to Local Government Area and finally Ward Units, hence, making huge impact in the Socio-Economic and Political sphere of the country.

The Youth constitutes up to 60% of Nigeria’s population of over two hundred million persons.

Being the umbrella body of Nigerian Youths both at home and Diaspora, and statutorily backed by the National Youth Policy of Nigeria, coupled with the African Youth Charter, Commonwealth Youth treaty and other International Youth Protocols, NYCN coordinates and supervises all activities of the Nigerian Youth globally.

Recently, the Youth Council under its current President, Amb. Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo, resolved to commence establishment of Diaspora structures and Chapters beginning with the European Region on 14th April 2023 through the appointment of Collins Osazee Idahosa as the Governor with consent of the National Management Committee.

The Europe Chapter which consists of 50 Countries including the United Kingdom is geared towards harmonizing Nigerian Youth in Europe to align with Nigeria’s Cultural, Economic, and Political Values.

Though recently established, the Europe chapter has embarked on various projects and programs both in and outside Nigeria to complement the Parental Council.

Youth Ambassador Collins Idahosa, has made history as the first Diaspora Youth Governor to be appointed in Nigeria by NYCN, and has been formally empowered to supervise and coordinate the activities and foster actualization of aspirations of Nigerian Youth across Europe.
