Nigerians have reacted wildly to Samuel Chukwueze’s brilliant assist for Fulham, with many fans contrasting it with his Super Eagles form.

Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze once stole the spotlight in the Premier League, providing a stunning assist that secured a late 1-0 victory for Fulham against Sunderland at Craven Cottage.

Coming off the bench in the 64th minute, the Nigerian winger wasted no time, delivering a pinpoint cross in the 84th minute that found striker Raul Jimenez, who calmly converted it to seal the win.

In just 26 minutes on the pitch, Chukwueze created five chances, made four key passes, completed the most dribbles, and crafted two big scoring opportunities, including the assist.

Nigerian fans, however, were quick to express their frustration on social media, contrasting Chukwueze’s dazzling club performance with what many see as a lacklustre display for the Super Eagles.

“Change that jersey to a Super Eagles jersey and he starts playing like a fool,” one fan quipped, while another added, “Where was this against Congo?”

Others sympathised, acknowledging challenges the player faces with the national team but felt his talent should translate more consistently to international duty.

Fulham’s victory not only boosted the club’s Premier League standing to 14th place but also highlighted the influence of Nigerian players, with Calvin Bassey and Alex Iwobi also putting in strong performances.

Fulham manager Marco Silva would have been proud of Chukwueze’s impact, with his flair and decisive contribution that made the difference in a tightly contested match.

Meanwhile, Sunderland’s run was halted despite a solid effort, including midfield presence from DR Congo’s Noah Sadiki.

As the Fulham faithful celebrated the narrow win, Nigerian fans eagerly look forward to seeing if Chukwueze can replicate this magic in future Super Eagles matches, hoping he brings the same creativity and spark on the international stage.

For now, his assist at Craven Cottage serves as a reminder of the talented winger’s potential and value to both club and country.
