Trump Finally Announces Own Social Media Platform

Former US President Donald Trump has launched his own personal media website, months after he was suspended from Twitter and Facebook.

Titled From The Desk of Donald J Trump, the platform appears on the website: www.DonaldJTrump.com/desk.

It features short essay-like posts and videos, as well as links by which website users can share their posts to social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook.

In a video posted on the platform, Tuesday night, the new communication site is described as “A beacon of freedom, A place to speak freely and safely,”.

While there are no features on the space to enable website users to reply or engage with the president on his posts, they can make donations and also make use of the shopping feature to obtain Make American Great Again merch.

According to reports by Fox News, the site which surfaced on Tuesday appears to be powered by Campaign Nucleus— the “digital ecosystem made for efficiently managing political campaigns and organizations,” created by the President’s former campaign manager, Brad Parscale.

It is also mentioned on the site that the platform is “Paid for by Save America JFC, a joint fundraising committee of Save America and Make America Great Again PAC. Not authorized by any candidate or candidate’s committee. donaldjtrump.com”.

The platform is launched, just a day before Facebook‘s Oversight Board is expected to announce its decision on whether to indefinitely suspend the former President from Facebook and Instagram.

Speaking with Fox, President Trump’s senior adviser Jason Miller pointed out that the platform was not a social media platform.

“The website is a great resource to find his latest statements and highlights from his first term in office, but this is not a new social media platform. We’ll have additional information coming on that front in the very near future,” he added.
