Southampton Football Club manager, Ralph Hasenhuttl has confirmed the signing of Japanese professional footballer, Takumi Minamino, on loan from Liverpool FC.
The 26-years-old English Premier League player arrived at St Mary’s Stadium on deadline day, after completing 31 appearances for his parent club, Naija News reports.
Speaking after the player’s arrival, Hasenhuttl expressed confidence that the player will provide a good attacking option for the club for the rest of the season.
The manager said: “I am very pleased to welcome Takumi to our squad for the rest of this season. He will help provide another good attacking option and is importantly the right profile of player for us.
“This will give us some additional depth in our squad at an important time, and I am looking forward to beginning work with him on the training pitch.”
Naija News understands that the attacking midfielder who could comfortably play from the centre and out wide will become the latest Japan international to represent Saints, following in the footsteps of Maya Yoshida most recently.
Minamino had a few months ago told the Super Soccer that he had other options aside from Liverpool to join, though didn’t specify which they were, Naija News recalls.
