Eyewitness reports indicate that the explosion left many victims burnt beyond recognition.

While the exact number of casualties remains uncertain, reports suggest that up to 100 people may have lost their lives, with several others sustaining severe burns.

Reacting to the tragedy, Niger State Governor, Umaru Bago, expressed profound shock and grief.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, the governor described the explosion as “heartbreaking, worrisome, and unfortunate.”

Governor Bago extended his condolences to the families of the victims and prayed for the quick recovery of the injured. He urged citizens to prioritize safety and avoid actions that could lead to such disasters.

Furthermore, the Governor directed relevant Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to take immediate action and called on security operatives to ensure the area remained secure after the explosion.
