Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, on Thursday, joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftains at President Bola Tinubu’s office, Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja, in celebration of the Supreme Court victory.

Naija News reports that the Supreme Court, in its ruling, affirmed the election of Tinubu as Nigeria’s president in the 2023 general election, which was challenged by his two major opponents, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP).

In its ruling, the seven-member panel led by Justice John Okoro unanimously held that Obi and Abubakar’s appeals against Tinubu were bereft of merit and deserved to be dismissed.

It therefore affirmed the ruling of the Presidential Elections Petitions Tribunal (PEPT) that upheld the victory of Tinubu in the February 25th election.

After the unanimous decision of the seven-member panel, well-wishers, APC chieftains and Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, rushed into President Tinubu’s office to congratulate him.

According to Daily Trust, PDP governor, Diri was also seen in the villa rejoicing with Tinubu as he walked up to him and shook hands with him.

Tinubu, who was basking in joy over the court verdict, said, “Oh! Diri, you are looking good. I used to see him on television.”

Recall that Diri is contesting for reelection in a few weeks, and the court has disqualified his main opponent, Timipre Sylva, the candidate of the APC.
