Tinubu: 'I Started Reading About Sports After Ministerial Appointment' - New Minister Of Sports

Nigeria’s new Minister of Sports, John Owan Enoh, has disclosed that he only began to read about sports after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu assigned the new portfolio to him.

Naija News reports that Enoh is one of the 45 ministerial appointees sworn into office on Monday by President Tinubu following their screening and confirmation by the Senate.

During a recent interaction with Daily Trust, Enoh, who was reacting to criticism over his inexperience in the industry, said he did not lobby President Tinubu for the role given to him.

This news platform understands that the newly inaugurated Minister of Sports has no background in sports, but was appointed to become Nigeria’s 36th Minister of Sports.

Enoh is said to have been engaged with farming before his new portfolio.

The 57-year-old Minister, however, has told journalists that he is getting up to speed after assuming office.

“I didn’t lobby to be sports minister.

“President Bola Tinubu saw me fit and decided to put the task of building sports in Nigeria.

“Since I was assigned this portfolio, I have been reading about sports,” Enoh said to journalists.
