‘Spirit’ Arrested In Borno For Trying To Dupe Victim Of N22m

Security operatives attached to the Borno State Police Command have arrested a suspect who poses as a spirit to make his unsuspecting victims wealthy.

According to the Commissioner of Police (CP) Abdu Umar, the mode of operation of the suspect was to make his victims believe that he has a connection with a spirit that could make them wealthy.

However, nemesis recently caught up with the suspect who is a member of a three-man gang.

The CP said that the suspect and his accomplices, who are at large, contacted one Bukar Muhammed and deceived him into believing that they could assist him to be rich.

They manipulated and directed him to go and drop his Automated Teller Machine (ATM) card and the pin number at a certain location.

“The victim complied and the suspects withdrew the sum of N22 million from his account domiciled at TAJ Bank Plc,” Umar said.

The CP stated further that during the investigation, the suspect was trailed and arrested in February, adding that he later confessed to the crime and other similar offences.

He also said that efforts were being made to apprehend other members of the gang.
