The Nigerian political space can be likened to a turbulent water where quest for selfish and personal gains can drown public interest and service but Dist Sen Patrick Ndubueze is one man who stands out as a beacon of purposeful leadership, humility, transparency and sincerely.
The Senator representing Imo North Senatorial District (Okigwe zone) in the National Assembly has constantly shown that the job of a legislator is not merely attending plenaries but by backing his loud voice with actions good enough to stand as positive impacts across his constituency.
Sen Ndubueze has grounded his mission in the 10th National Assembly on three core pillars which are: proactive legislation, infrastructural transformation and human capital development. This explains his commitment to strengthening human capital alongside infrastructural sustainable development.
His engagement in and outside the Red Chamber of the Senate underscores an intentional effort and deliberate commitment to improving the quality of life of the people which emphasises the importance of strong representation.
He has shown profound understanding that good laws are the bedrock of a functioning society. He has not been a benchwarmer in the red chamber, instead he has actively sponsored and co-sponsored critical bills aimed at addressing systematic challenges in Okigwe zone.
He has embarked on a relentless mission to bring dividends of democracy directly to the doorsteps of his constituents and the mission is visible in numerous infrastructure projects including:
✓ A Federal University, which will open doors for employment and rapid development.
✓ An electricity intervention project, which will create an enabling environment for investors and significantly improve the economy of the area .
✓ Rehabilitation and equipping of health facilities to improve healthcare.
✓ Installation of solar streetlights to provide security and illumination.
✓ Renovation of identifiable schools to uplift the standard of education.
✓ Sinking of boreholes to provide clean water in the needed areas.
✓ Attraction and facilitating road projects across the zone.
Those who have followed political developments and trends in Okigwe zone would agree with me that he attracted laudable projects to show his deliberate focus on expanding opportunities that would stimulate inclusive development in the zone.
One of the most critical aspects of his achievements is the premium placed on human capital development through securing jobs for in various state and federal establishments and empowerment particularly for the youth and women.
His empowerment programmes are not the typical episodic handouts that create dependency but they are focused on skills, vocational training and education development.
In a political landscape often characterised by short-term thinking and personal aggrandizement, Sen Ndubueze offers a refreshing blueprint. He is a legislator on the right mission for a better and prosperous Okigwe zone.
