Russia-Ukraine: China State Position On The Ongoing War

The Chinese government has declared that time will prove its position on the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine.

China’s Foreign Minister, Wang Yi said this on Sunday while addressing journalists on the cold war which has lasted a month now, Naija News reports.

A statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs read: “China will continue to make independent judgments based on the merits of the matter and in an objective and fair attitude.”

China said it’s the government will never accept any external coercion and pressure, stressing that it also opposes any groundless accusations and suspicions against its country.

Wang said, “The long-term solution is to abandon the Cold War mentality, refrain from engaging in group confrontation, and truly form a balanced, effective and sustainable regional security architecture. Only in this way can long-term stability on the European continent be achieved.”

Naija News understands that Russia and Ukraine have both increased their opposition in the last few weeks following President Vladimir Putin’s order of invasion.

The war enters its twenty-third day today and massive casualties have been recorded already.

Meanwhile, the United States of America has warned China that there will be consequences if they should provide support for Russia in the ongoing unrest in Ukraine.

A senior US official told CNN that Russia has asked China for military assistance in Ukraine, including drones.

Jake Sullivan, White House National Security Adviser, stated that China supporting Russia is a reason to be concerned.

We also are watching closely to see the extent to which China actually does provide any form of support, material support or economic support, to Russia. It is a concern of ours.”

He said that the United States had sent a warning to China that they would not stand by and allow any country to provide support to Russia for its losses from the economic sanctions.

Sullivan explained that China had been warned that there will be dire consequences if it offers “large-scale” efforts to give Russia a workaround to US sanctions.
