A plan by some kidnappers to abduct the Bursar of Joseph Sawuan Tarka University of Agriculture in Makurdi has been thwarted.
According to a statement on Tuesday by the spokesperson of the Benue Police Command, DSP Catherine Anene, the police in the state foiled the plot to abduct the Bursar on Saturday.
Anene added that the police prevented the kidnap after receiving information about the regrouping of the kidnap gang in Makurdi.
Anene said a team of police officers trailed the suspects, after they gathered around 12:00 noon on Saturday at Ankpa Quarters, Makurdi, and perfected plans to carry out the nefarious act.
She, however, said that officers of Operation Zenda led by its commander, CSP Justine Gberindyer, invaded their hideout and arrested the kingpin, one Paul Terwase Agbem also known as ‘Top of Gwarimpa, Abuja’ and one Mson Yaasa of Adikpo in Kwande local government area of the state.
Anene said during interrogation, the suspects confessed to have completed plans on the same day to kidnap the official of Joseph Sawuan Tarka University of Agriculture, Makurdi, who allegedly refused to pay him money for the contract he executed in the school.
The police spokesperson added that efforts are in progress to arrest the suspects who fled.
