Police Arrest ‘Evangelist’ For Attempting To Rape 12-Year-Old Girl In Anambra

Court Imprisons Abia School Proprietor For Defiling 13-Year-Old Niece

One Boniface Onyekwere has been apprehended by the Anambra State Command of the Nigeria Police Force after an alleged attempt to s3xually assault an underaged girl.

The suspect who is alleged to be an evangelist was arrested at No 6 Melock Street, Ifite Awka, Anambra State, Naija News understands.

Reports had it that the 12-year-old girl escaped the violation by jumping off from a storey building.

The incident reportedly happened in Awka on Thursday last week.

Onyekwere was said to have contracted the girl less than one week to help him out with house chores as his family members were based in Abuja.

Naija News understands that the girl involved is currently in the hospital receiving treatment as she sustained fractures on her legs, after jumping down from the building.

Reacting in a statement, the state police spokesman, Ikenga Tochukwu, told newsmen that the suspect had been transferred to the State CID on the directive of the commissioner of police, Naija News reports.

Ikenga said, “Yes, the suspect is in our custody, his name is Boniface Onyekwere, ‘m’ aged 56yrs old, of No 6, Melock Street Ifite Awka, an evangelist.

“The case also has been transferred to State CID on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Echeng Echeng. The investigation is still ongoing please.”

Meanwhile, one Pastor Solomon Diya attached to the Living Faith Church, Okuokoko, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State, is reportedly on the run after trying to kill his 17-year-old house help.

According to Sahara Reporters, the help, favour was severely attacked on the head by her boss for using a tin of milk to drink garri.

A member of the church told the publication that the pastor and his wife were serial abusers of the girl.

The source said: “Pastor Solomon Diya has allegedly attempted the life of his home help on Tuesday, April 5. The issue was reported and we directed that the girl be rushed to the hospital.

“The suspect has been invited by the police in Orerokpe but he’s invading arrest and if by Monday he refused to turn himself up to the police, we shall obtain a warrant of arrest on him. When did using a tin of milk to drink garri constitute an offence of attempting to kill her?

“Can the pastor treat his children that way if they also use his tin of milk? The mother of the girl arrived from Imo State today and we shall all ventilate our grievances accordingly. All the neighbours have complained about how the pastor and his wife keep maltreating this girl. It will happen no more.”

When contacted by the publication, Diya refused to comment.

However, the leadership of the living Faith church promised to report the suspect to the police, Naija News reports.
