Ivory Coast-based Nigerian businessman, Nwoye Osondu, reportedly slumped and died while watching Nigeria’s Super Eagles clash with South Africa’s Bafana Bafana.
Naija News reports that the semi-final tie, which ended 1-1 after extra time, with the Super Eagles winning on penalties, was filled with so much tension.
However, billionaire businessman, Obianna Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana, announced the death of his friend, Osondu, in a post via Instagram on Thursday.
According to him, Wednesday’s match took some good people away and questioned why such an unfortunate thing had to happen.
Obi Cubana described his late friend as an amazing human being, adding that he hosted them last Sunday, a few days to the day he died.
He wrote, “Yesterday’s match has taken some very important people why, Nwachinemelu!!! Amazing human! Hosted us massively just last Sunday.”
Adamawa NYSC Member Slumps To Death
In related news, a serving member of the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC), identified as Samuel, also slumped to death in Adamawa State, during the last AFCON match.
An eyewitness who spoke with Nigerian Tribune, said the Adamawa State corps member died before the last shootout that progressed Nigeria to the final of the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Confirming the demise, the NYSC Coordinator in Adamawa state, Jingi Dennis, said Samuel was pronounced dead by a doctor at the General Hospital in Numan.
