During his time at Liverpool, Yeats played an impressive 454 games before taking on the role of player-manager at Tranmere in 1971.

Even in retirement, Yeats remained connected to the sport, rejoining Liverpool as chief scout in 1986, a position he held until his retirement in 2006.
