The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo (SAN) on Tuesday threw his weight behind the nominated Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Abdulrasheed Bawa.
President Muhammadu Buhari named 40-year-old Abdulrasheed Bawa as the new Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Naija News reports that Buhari has asked the Nigerian Senate to confirm Bawa’s nomination as the nation’s anti-graft boss.
Keyamo who acted as counsel for the commission before his ministerial appointment noted that he can attest to the “intellectual depth and conscientiousness” of the nominee due to the few experience he had with him.”
“I rarely do this, but having prosecuted for the EFCC for more than a decade before my appointment as Minister, I can attest to the intellectual depth and conscientiousness of this nominee, Abdulrasheed Bawa with whom I did a few matters. Congrats, ahead of the Senate screening.”
Meanwhile, the chairman-designate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Abdulrasheed Bawa, was arrested and detained by the commission in 2019 for selling at least 244 trucks worth between N20-30 million each to his proxies at N100,000 per unit.
