Katsina State government has fixed January 25, 2021, as the resumption date for both private and public day schools across the state.
Naija News reports that this was made known in a circular titled “Approved guidelines for the resumption of primary and day secondary schools first term activities for the year 2021” dated January 19, 2021.
This newspaper reports that the circular was signed by Musa Abdu Dankama, Permanent Secretary, Katsina state Ministry of Education, on behalf of the Commissioner.
According to the circular, the resumption for each School activities was subject to compulsory formation of School Security Committee which should include Parent Teachers Association (PTA) Chairman, School Based Management Committee (SDMC) Chairman, the traditional ruler of the school community, two religious organizations of the School community and representative of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the Local Government where the school is located.
Others are representative of the Department of State Security (DSS) of the Local Government where the School is located and representative of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) of the Local Government where the School is located.
The Katsina government said the Security Committee of each School must be inaugurated before the resumption date, adding that it is compulsory for each School Management to ensure COVID-19 protocols compliance by both Staff and Students.
