The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba, on Saturday, joined the patrol of the Abuja-Kaduna expressway in a clearance operation.
Naija News reports that the police chief was also on the ground to supervise the deployment of police operatives to patrol the expressway which was taken over by bandits for some days.
According to a statement issued by the acting Police Spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi, IGP Alkali ordered the deployment of different police units to patrol the popular highway.
Adejobi mentioned the units as the Counter-Terrorism Unit (CTU), Police Mobile Force (PMF), Special Forces (SF), Intelligence Response Team (IRT), and the Special Tactical Squad (STS).
He added that Alkali also visited security operatives deployed at Rijana to secure the technical crew of the Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC), who are repairing the damaged train coaches and rail line, following the recent attack by terrorists.
Meanwhile, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has blamed Governor Nasir El-Rufai for the killings and kidnapping rocking Kaduna State.
The group stated that the Kaduna governor paying killer Fulani herdsmen some years back is the cause of the current carnage the north is witnessing.
CAN was reacting to a statement by El-Rufai where he threatened to hire foreign mercenaries to help tackle insecurity in the state.
El-Rufai was quoted to have made the submissions on Friday while speaking with journalists shortly after briefing President Muhammadu Buhari about the recent attacks and killings in Kaduna State including the attack on the International Airport as well as Monday’s bomb explosion on the Abuja-Kaduna train.
