In a remarkable milestone for sports development in Mokwa Local Government Area, the Executive Chairman of Mokwa Local Government Council, Niger State, Hon. Comr. Amb. Jibrin Abdullahi Muregi Dan Ajiyan Nupe, has achieved what many administrations, over several tenures, could not accomplish by successfully reviving the 4th Edition of the Mokwa Chairman’s Cup after 24 years of its absence from the football calendar.
The revival of this prestigious football tournament demonstrates the Chairman’s unwavering commitment to youth empowerment, talent discovery, and community development. The competition is expected to produce a new generation of football stars, create temporary employment opportunities, engage youths in meaningful activities, and contribute significantly to reducing crime and social vices across the Local Government Area.
Speaking on the significance of the tournament, Hon. Comr. (Amb) Jibrin Abdullahi Muregi Dan Ajiyan Nupe reaffirmed that unity, peace, economic development, and the overall progress of Mokwa Local Government Area remain non-negotiable priorities of his administration. He emphasized that sports remain a powerful tool for promoting harmony and strengthening the bond among the people.
Hon Comr Amb Jibrin Abdullahi Muregi further expressed delight that 49 registered football teams will participate in this historic competition, making it the biggest football tournament ever organized in the history of Mokwa Local Government Area. The excitement and enthusiasm already being witnessed among football lovers and residents clearly indicate that one of the major objectives of the tournament has been achieved even before the kickoff.
On behalf of the Government and the good people of Mokwa Local Government Council, Hon. Comr. (Amb) Jibrin Abdullahi Muregi Dan Ajiyan Nupe called on all participating teams, officials, supporters, and spectators to uphold the spirit of sportsmanship by avoiding all forms of violence and respecting the rules and regulations guiding the competition.
