Suspected gunmen have killed two police officers attached to “Operation Delta Safe” of the Delta State command along Ugbolu-Illah road in Oshimili North Local Government Area of the state.

The development was confirmed on Tuesday by the Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Ali, while speaking with newsmen in Asaba, on Tuesday.

Ali in his statement said the police, however, killed two of the gunmen but regretted that a stray bullet from the police killed an old woman during the gun battle with the hoodlums.

He further stated that the suspected gunmen took away the service rifles of the two police officer that were killed after the attack.

“During the attack, the police also killed two of the gunmen, and recovered two pump action guns and some charms from them.”

“However, an old woman was also killed in the process by a stray bullet as the police team was chasing the gunmen.

“We have deposited the body of the woman in a morgue and talks are ongoing with the family to see that something is done,” Ali said.

In another development, Men of the Nigeria Police Force in Kano have reportedly nabbed a Hisbah commander with a woman inside a hotel.

One Abdulhamied, a columnist who reported the incident on his Twitter handle, on Tuesday (today), alleged that the Shariah police official was caught with the married woman inside a hotel room at Sabon Gari area of Kano.
