Gunmen Abducts On Ijebu-Ode Ibadan Road – Police Confirms

No fewer than three persons were reportedly abducted on Monday, April 12 in Oyo State, police confirmed.

A statement from the State Command of the Nigeria Police Force confirmed that the incident happened at about 8:00 am on Monday.

The report reaching Naija News at this time had it that the gunmen came out from a bush at Onipe, a community along the Ijebu-Ode-Ibadan Road in Oluyole Local Government Area of the State and began to shot sporadically into the air before swindling away their victims to an unknown location.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Adewale Osifeso, who confirmed the disturbing development to newsmen, said officers of the command were on the trail of the suspects.

He said: ”We have a combined team of Anti-Kidnapping Squad, other tactical teams in conjunction with the local hunters and vigilante on the trail of the suspects.

”They are actively combing the forest to rescue the victims. ” I can assure you that investigation is on and I will keep you updated as soon as we have more updates,” Osifeso added.

Meanwhile, unknown gunmen on Tuesday shot a police officer while trying to foil the abduction of some people in the Tungan-Maje community in Gwagwalada Area Council of Abuja.

Naija News reports that a resident of the community identified as Ibrahim Saidu noted that the armed men during the attack engaged the police and some members of the vigilante in a shootout.

Saidu disclosed that after an hour of shooting, the gunmen abducted two people from Anguwar Samu in Tungan-Maje.
