Groom’s Best Man Steals ₦500,000 Wedding Gifts In Kano

A man has been apprehended in Kano State after carting away wedding gifts worth ₦500,000.

The man whose name is yet to be made public had served as the groom’s best man at the wedding event held in the Gaida area of Kumbotso LGA of Kano State.

Naija News learnt that the suspect carried out the theft a week after the wedding.

It was reported that the suspect holds the keys to the couple’s apartment, hence it was easy for him to commit the crime.

Confirming the incident, the vigilante commander of Gaida, Shekarau Ali, told reporters that the groom reported the case and the suspect have been immediately arrested.

Ali explained that the suspect got the keys from the relatives of the bride during the wedding, with the claim that he was going to hand them over to the groom.

“The groom asked for the return of the keys but he refused. When he saw that the couple had gone out of the house, he opened the house and stole the wedding boxes (gifts) and food items,” Dailytrust quoted Ali as saying.

He added that they are investigating him and will subsequently hand him over to the police.

Meanwhile, the suspect has confessed to the crime, blaming the devil for his shameless act.

He considered his actions a betrayal to his friend and pleaded for forgiveness.

However, the suspect reportedly said he contributed to the wedding by spending more than N400,000 on the groom.
