There was a fire disaster at No 138D, Temidire Irewolede community, in Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State on Friday, Naija News learnt.

Reports say the incident, which happened at approximately 09:52 hours yesterday, caused damage to properties worth millions of naira.

The State Fire Service spokesman in the state, Hassan Adekunle, confirmed the inferno in a terse statement, noting that only one bedroom out of the four in the building was affected. He also confirmed that there were no casualties and that the cause of the fire was attributed to a power surge.

Reacting, the Director of Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, urged the general public to always play safe, especially during this period, and not to hesitate to call the fire brigade on time whenever there is any emergency.

Abducted Wife, Children Of Kwara Lawmaker Regain Freedom

Meanwhile, the wife and two children of the lawmaker representing Ipaiye/Malete/Olooru of Moro Local Government in the Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon. Soliu Ayanshola, who were abducted, have regained freedom.

Naija News reports that the development was confirmed by a government source who spoke with Vanguard.

According to the source, the abductees regained their freedom late Wednesday, about 8 p.m., following discreet efforts of the security agencies and the Kwara State Government.

The source said, “At least five members of the gang that abducted them have also been arrested following discreet intelligence and surveillance works by all the teams involved.”

A close family source who spoke with the platform on a condition of anonymity said, “The wife and children were released a few minutes ago, they’ve been reunited with members of the family, they’re safe, hale and hearty.”

Recall that the wife and two children of the lawmaker were abducted on Monday when gunmen invaded the residence of the lawmaker around 1 a.m.

Meanwhile, Kwara State Police Command said that it has arrested five persons in connection with the abduction.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Okasanmi Ajayi, earlier on Wednesday, confirmed the arrest of suspects allegedly involved in the abduction of the lawmaker’s family.
