[Photos] Lewandoski Let Out Tears After Scoring His First World Cup Goal
Poland forward, Robert Lewandowski scored his first goal as his team defeated Saudi Arabia in their Group C World Cup encounter.
After scoring his first-ever World Cup goal at the Education City Stadium on Saturday, the Barcelona striker was unable to contain his excitement.
The Polish attacker scored in the 82nd minute to give Poland a 2-0 victory against a resolute Saudi Arabia squad that had previously missed a penalty. This resulted in Poland earning all three points.
Lewandowski stole the ball from the defenders and finished with his left foot, beating Saudi goalkeeper Mohammed Al-Owais.
He came within a yard of scoring again in the 90th minute but lost his footing.
Lewandowski, who has now scored 77 goals for Poland, sobbed after scoring his nation’s first World Cup goal.
Despite scoring 635 goals in his career, the World Cup goal for Poland meant the most to the former Bayern Munich attacker.

Transfer Window: Tuchel Speaks On Lewandowski Move To Chelsea
Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel has reacted to viral reports linking the Blues with signing Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski.
Chelsea had just signed Raheem Sterling from Manchester City to boost its frontline in the new season.
Speculations are that the Blues are also interested in signing Lewandowski and Manchester United star, Cristiano Ronaldo to add to the squad before the transfer window closes.
Speaking at an interview following Sterling’s arrival at the Stamford Bridge yesterday, Tuchel said he couldn’t rule out the probability of signing another player but that signing another forward is not the priority at the moment.
The German tactician said his focus is on Chelsea’s backline considering that the likes of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen are out of his list.
“I would not rule it out [signing another striker] but right now it is not the priority. The priority right now is defence, it’s not a secret. From there, we need to see what’s possible.
“We’re competing against the two top teams, but Tottenham did a very active and aggressive and early transfer period, they have maybe the strongest squad they ever had with one of the best coaches in the world.
“Man Utd are never shy of recruiting with a new coach and Arsenal had some big signings already, so we need to keep the level up to be competitive,” Tuchel said.
