An Ikeja Chief Magistrate Court in Lagos State has adjourned a case of alleged conspiracy and theft filed against two bank security guards.
The two suspects who were arraigned before the court on Wednesday were alleged to have stolen ₦2.4million from an Automated Teller Machine (ATM).
Naija News learnt that Friday Audu, 43-year-old who lives in Oyewole compound in Iyana Ipaja, and his accomplice, Haruna Anaja, 40, residing in Irepodun street, Oja Oba in Abule Egba, gained access to the huge sum of money after a staff of the bank, who loaded money into the machine forgot to lock the entrance door.
The prosecutor, Insp. Olusegun Oke, told the court that the offences were committed on August 5 at 13 Joel Ogunaike Street, Ikeja.
Eleven ATM cards bearing different names were reportedly recovered from the suspects. The offences, according to the Oke, contravened sections 287, 328, 329 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
In his ruling after hearing from the defence lawyer and the prosecutor, the court judge, D.S Odukoya, granted bail to the suspects in the sum of N500,000 each with two sureties in like sum.
He thereby adjourned the case until November 3 after Audu and Anaja pleaded not guilty to the charges.
