Gunmen suspected to be bandits reportedly stormed Salka, a community in the Magama LGA of Niger State and killed a medical doctor.
Reports reaching Naija News at this time confirmed that Precious Emeka Chinedu was shot dead at his clinic.
It was gathered that the bandits, numbering about five entered the village on Wednesday evening, June 16 at about 9:00 targeting the deceased. A resident of the community disclosed that the assailants entered the clinic and abducted Chinedu to an unknown destination before his corpse was found by a vigilante group hours later.
He said: “When they took the Doctor away, we reported to the police and the local vigilante. The vigilante later called us the following day saying that they have seen a corpse inside the bush and we were able to identify that of the doctor”.
When contacted on the incident, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Wasiu, was unable to respond to calls and text messages sent to him.
However, the Ohaneze Ndigbo, Niger state President, Chief Emmanuel Ezeugo, confirmed the incident. He appealed to relevant authorities to investigate the cause of the murder.
Meanwhile, a special adviser to Governor Abubakar Bagudu of Kebbi State, Rabiu Kamba, on Friday disclosed that a teacher and eight students out the victims abducted by bandits on Thursday at the Federal Government College, Birnin Yauri, Kebbi State, have been rescued.
Bandits around 12:30 on Thursday invaded the college and abducted yet to be ascertained, several students.
Kamba while speaking on the development said the abductees rescued are in the custody of the military.
