Niger State Governor, Umaru Bago, has held discussions with representatives of Hiter-Stata Energy Investment Ltd. regarding a proposed investment in Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) infrastructure to expand access to cleaner, more affordable energy across the state.

The company’s delegation, led by its Deputy Managing Director, Ezuma Okoronkwo, presented plans to develop a comprehensive CNG ecosystem in Niger State.

The proposal includes establishing CNG mother and daughter stations, vehicle conversion centres, and other supporting infrastructure to drive the adoption of cleaner energy solutions.

The meeting also explored areas of collaboration between the Niger State Government and Hiter-Stata Energy Investment Ltd. to ensure the successful implementation of the project and maximise its economic and social benefits for residents.

Bago described the proposal as a significant step towards advancing the state’s energy and industrial development objectives.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to providing an enabling environment for strategic investments that promote sustainable economic growth, infrastructure development, energy security, and improved livelihoods.

Speaking during the meeting, Okoronkwo said the project would accelerate the adoption of CNG as an alternative transportation fuel, reduce energy and transportation costs, create employment opportunities, attract private sector investment, and support the Federal Government’s Decade of Gas Initiative.
