The Commonwealth Alliance of Youth Workers Association (CAYWA) has assured its members that 2026 will be a year of impactful achievements in youth work. Co-Chairpersons Tanya Marrick Powell and Jufitri Bin Johan extended warm greetings to youth workers globally, acknowledging their tireless efforts in supporting young people and strengthening communities across the Commonwealth.

“CAYWA recognizes the dedication of youth workers in navigating complex challenges and fostering positive change,” the statement read. In 2025, CAYWA delivered significant initiatives, including:
– Direct grants to member associations for national and regional youth work projects
– Training youth workers in South Africa as Master Trainers in basic youth work
– Youth Work Labs for learning, innovation, and peer exchange
– Dialogues on social justice, mental health, and youth wellbeing
– Establishing a regional youth workers group in the Pacific
– Coordinated the Global Youth Work Conference and participated in the Commonwealth Youth Ministers’ Task Force meeting
– Coordinated the Commonwealth Youth Work Awards, the first of its kind
Looking ahead, CAYWA’s Co-Chairs emphasized collaboration and innovation, stating, “The Commonwealth Alliance offers a trusted platform for delivery, learning, and advocacy, supporting professionalisation and strengthening youth work systems.”
The statement concluded by thanking youth workers for their resilience and commitment, inviting members to the Annual General Meeting in February.
