Kwara United Players Go On Ten Days Break After ₦5 Million, Plot Of Land Gifts From Governor

Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) club, Kwara United, have embarked on a ten-day break after securing the 2025 President Federation Cup title.

The Kwara United players and coaching staff embarked on the break following their meeting with Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, at the state’s Banquet Hall, GRA, Ilorin.

During the meeting held on Monday, June 30, the team formally presented the President Federation Cup trophy to the governor in the presence of other state executives.

On his part, Governor AbdulRazaq gifted each of the main team’s players and coaching staff five million naira and a plot of land at the Kwara Smart City.

“This is the biggest trophy in Nigeria today. It is bigger than the League Cup”, the governor said.

“This has been in existence even before the League was formed. The trophy is in Kwara, today.

“I must congratulate everybody who has made it happen.”

Governor AbdulRazaq applauded Kwara United players as he recalled how disorganized the club was when he took over the state’s administration six years ago.

”When we came in 2019, everything was down. We owed players a lot of money, but today the story has changed”, he said.

“So, I thank you all for what you are doing.

“Our administration is dedicating this trophy in memory of Alhaji Yusuf Salami, who spent his entire wealth without government support to bring in this trophy to Kwara, but he didn’t succeed.

“May Allah grant him Alijanna Fridaous.”

Naija News reports that Kwara United won the President’s Federation Cup on June 28 at the Onikan Stadium in Lagos, after defeating Abakaliki FC 4-3 on penalties.
