Former Presidential aide, Reno Omokri has urged the people in the Southern region of Nigeria to start growing food for themselves.
Omokri stated this while reacting to the strike action by the Amalgamated Union of Foodstuff and Cattle Dealers of Nigeria (AUFCDN) has led to rising food prices in southern Nigeria, Naija News reports.
The group is seeking compensation of ₦475 billion for the damage done to its members during the EndSARS protests and the killing of Hausa traders in an ethnic clash at the Shasha market in Oyo State. It also demanded the removal of all checkpoints from highways, where its members were abused by extorting money from them.
The Northern region has, however, threatened to continue with the food supply strike action which has lasted for about a week now.
Reacting to the development, Omokri took to his verified Twitter handle to alert the Southern states that the strike action should be a wake-up call for them, urging them to launch into enough food growing themselves even if the food trucks from the north resume work.
Omokri pointed out that they can not die from overfeeding but they can die from over-bleeding in the hands of those who feed them [referring to the North].
His tweet reads: “Dear Southern Nigeria, Even if the food trucks resume, let this be a wake-up call. Start growing food. Whoever feeds you can also bleed you. You cant die from overfeeding. But you can die from over-bleeding. This is no time to be nice. It is time to be wise”.

Meanwhile, the vice-presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 general election, Peter Obi, has said that it is very difficult to speak the truth to power in Nigeria.
Obi made this known while speaking on Monday in Abuja at the launch of ‘Made in Aba’, a book written by the Senate Minority Leader, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, Naija News reports.
