Allow Nigerians Buy Ak-47, Weapons To Defend Themselves Against Bandits – Gov Radda To FG

The Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, has urged the federal government to consider allowing individuals to legally purchase guns and weapons to defend themselves against bandits.

The Governor lamented that the criminals have perfected illegal ways to have access to weapons and the state governments as well as others concerned also need to be allowed to create institutions that can allow them to defend themselves and their people.

Governor Dikko, during a press conference in Abuja on Friday, 20th October, decried the situation where state governors don’t have command of the military, police and other security agencies, but are expected to defend their states as chief security officers.

Despite the situation, Dikko highlighted the resolve of his administration to deal with the criminals and other security challenges in Katsina State. According to him, his government would not negotiate with bandits.

He added that traditional rulers found to be in bed with the bandits, terrorists and other criminals, including those who are already under probe would be dealt with no matter how highly placed.
