Governor of Rivers State and presidential hopeful, Nyesom Wike, has reacted to reports of former President Goodluck Jonathan escaping death in a ghastly motor accident.
Naija News had reported earlier that the former president on Wednesday lost two of his security aides in a motor accident.
Jonathan was on his way from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport to his Abuja residence when the accident occurred.
The ex-President and his wife, Patience, have visited the emergency unit of the National Hospital, Abuja where all injured victims are receiving medical treatment.
Reacting to the sad development, Wike expressed gratitude to God for saving the former leader from the fatal auto crash.
Wike in a statement issued by his Media Aide, Kelvin Ebiri, sympathized with Jonathan over the death of two of his security aides and wished the injured officers a speedy recovery.
He, however, prayed to God to give Jonathan the strength to overcome the scars of the painful accident.
Wike said: “It was a thing of joy that President Jonathan came out unscathed after his convoy got involved in an accident in Abuja on Wednesday night.
“I was so elated to hear that President Goodluck Jonathan escaped unhurt. I thank God Almighty for sparing his life and that of others in the convoy.
“It is very heartbreaking to hear that the accident claimed the lives of two police personnel, and may God grant their families the fortitude to bear the loss.”
