Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano State has dragged Daily Nigerian Publisher, Jafar Jafar before a High Court sitting in Abuja.
According to the Writs of Summons, the Kano governor had filed a civil suit with No CU/1598/2021 dated 15 July, 2021. against Jafar Jafar and Penlight Media Limited.
The Writ of Summons stated that “you are hereby commanded that within fourteen days after service of this writ.
“Inclusive of the day of such service, you do cause an appearance to be entered for you.
“In an action at the suit of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and take notice that in default, the claimant may proceed and judgment may be given,” The court cautioned.
The Writ of Summons signed by an Abuja High Registry stated that the fertility of the issued Writ of Summons expires three calendar months from the date of issuance.
Naija News recalls that a Kano State High Court had fined Ganduje N800,000 after he discontinued his defamation suit against Ja’afar Ja’afar.
Ganduje had dragged Ja’afar to court over a story and videos where he was purportedly seen stuffing foreign currencies in his pocket.
The court presided over by Justice Suleiman Danmallan, who granted the application to discontinued the case, however, directed the governor to pay N400,000 each to Ja’afar and the parent company of the newspaper, both defendants in the suit.
