The Vice President of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo will today (Tuesday) meet with the Senate Caucus of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Osinbajo’s invitation to the lawmakers was announced in a letter read during the plenary on Tuesday by Senate President Ahmad Lawan.
According to the letter, the Vice President is inviting members of the APC Senate Caucus to Iftar in the evening at his official residence, Aguda House in the Aso Rock Villa.
The meeting is expected to be a continuation of Osinbajo’s consultation with party stakeholders following the declaration of his intention to seek the APC presidential ticket and take over from President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.
He is expected to use the opportunity of the meeting to officially inform the Senators of his intention to contest the 2023 presidency and solicit their support.
It will be recalled that a few hours before his official declaration, the Vice President also hosted APC Governors to iftar at his official residence.
Osinbajo in his declaration speech on Monday said he plans to continue the good works started by President Muhammadu Buhari.
